Five Days

a sample from the erotic novella
by Simon Jacobs and Amanda Woods

Chapter 1

Day One, Friday Morning

“I’ll be dead in five days.”

Three hours into their chance meeting in a random coffee shop, Sam dropped the unexpected bomb into the conversation.

The cup of cappuccino that Alicia had been raising to her lips slid from suddenly weak fingers. The steaming liquid spilled over the table and onto the floor. Neither of them paid any attention.

Technically, they had known each other since ninth grade, although they hardly ever spoke. Sam was perpetually anxious, and Alicia was wrapped up in the arts crowd. However, there was always something under the surface between them, an attraction that remained unspoken, and unfulfilled, for over a decade. Both of them knew it, but had never had the words—or even the understanding—to fully express it. Until now, that is. Until one unwitting meeting in a coffee shop changed everything.

They were both in their twenties now, but Alicia recognized Sam at once. How could she not after all the time he’d spent staring at her from across the classroom back in high school? Sam had been the type of guy that girls like her passed by in the hallway without a glance—thin, awkward, shy. Still, she’d known that Sam had a thing for her, and had loved to flaunt herself in front of him.

Now, however, the tables were turned.

While Alicia had retained her lithe yet curvy figure and her easy, open face that attracted almost everyone, Sam had undergone a complete transformation. He was plainly dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, and he’d filled out. Muscles pulled at his shirt, rippling when he moved, and his jeans hugged him perfectly. His dark, wavy hair had grown to frame a defined face that she didn’t remember being so striking. His eyes, deep and green, looked at her from across the room without a hint of the shyness she’d known him for. In fact, she felt he was staring her down, challenging her to speak to him. And Alicia loved a challenge.

From the counter, in something like defiance, she met his gaze. She picked up her cappuccino and walked toward him, ignoring the not-quite burning sensation in her hand from the hot mug. “You—” She pointed with her free hand, as if prepared to shout him down, while a grin spread across her face. “I know you,” she said. “Sam.”

He stood. “I—oh, God, Alicia. I thought I recognized you.”

“It was a mutual thought,” she said, her fingers now numb from the heat of the cup. She stood there for a second, beaming.

Sam hugged her, as old friends do. Alicia may have held the embrace for a second too long. They parted and sat across from each other.

They talked easily now that the days of high school awkwardness were over, and the more they talked, the more the old, dormant attraction resurfaced and grew stronger. They were adults now; they could recognize that it was far more than friendship at work here. School, careers, exes—it all served to rekindle that fire. Then Sam had gone and poured gasoline on it with his declaration of “five days.”

“What?” Back to the spilled cappuccino. Alicia gave a disbelieving half-laugh, steadying her shaky hands on the table.

“I can’t really go into any more detail,” Sam said. By all appearances, he was suddenly nervous.

Alicia felt a pinch of anxiety herself, uncomfortable with his evasiveness. “What do you mean, you can’t go into detail? You don’t just say that to someone and expect them to believe it.”

Sam’s emerald eyes stilled her. “I know what I’m saying to you is a surprise. But I’ve always felt something for you. It seems like destiny brought us together today, and I couldn’t pass up my last opportunity to talk to you like I’d always wanted to.”

Alicia fell quiet, staring wide-eyed into his serious face. Her mind raced, but she felt as if she weren’t thinking at all. She looked at Sam, saw the old shyness bleeding back into his face, and she melted.

Incredulously, she shook her head. “How did this…? Why? Why are you telling me this?” she asked, her voice trembling. “It’s just…” she trailed off.

“Believe me, I know,” he said, sounding unsure of himself. He waited, searching her face for an answer. “I haven’t seen you in so long, but I feel like we’ve always known each other,” he finally said.

Alicia looked into his eyes and felt magnetically drawn in. Had they always been that green? A feeling of immediacy descended over her. “Let me come with you,” she said, startling herself.

“What?” Sam asked, shocked.

For a moment, Alicia’s wide, brown eyes were his only response, but they narrowed as she gained conviction. “Let me come with you. Let me spend your last five days with you. I know I would regret not taking this chance if I turned away now. Let me make your last five days your best.” She punctuated this last sentence with a sultry smile.

“There’s so much we haven’t said to each other,” Sam said.

“I know.”

“A hell of a lot more than five days’ worth. I mean, what’s happened over the last ten years? High school ended, you went to college, I went to college. We settled into our houses, our jobs, our relationships, lived out a couple of years, and then what?”

“We’re here.”

“That’s right. But as of now…” Sam looked distractedly out the window at the passing traffic. “We’re just like those cars driving by. We’re on our way to given destinations; there’s no time to stop and ask for directions. And people just sit and watch us go by. It just turns out I’m gonna get to my destination before most other people. Before you…” He paused, and took a halting breath. “And there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s just not enough time to…”

Alicia took his hand. “To catch up?”

Sam looked enormously relieved. He caressed her fingers and lifted them to his face. “I want to know what these have been up to. Where they’ve been.” He kissed her fingertips lightly and she felt her whole body tingle. “We need to pick up where we left off in high school.”

“There was so much we missed during that time. I can’t believe I didn’t know you better,” Alicia said, regret washing over her face.

“We’ve got five days,” Sam said. Now he was the one who spoke with conviction. “Five days to catch up on all those places we missed going together.” Five days to reclaim every ounce of passion that had slipped by. Sam remembered the fleeting glances by the lockers in the hallway; Alicia, the simple “hellos” she’d never had the courage to offer. They regarded each other now, promising themselves that they would set fire to all the moments that had, until today, gone unignited.

Lost time? They had five days to make it up.

Chapter 2

Day One, Friday Afternoon

They exited the coffee shop in a blur, stealing excited glances at each other. They would take Sam’s car—an SUV, it was faster and more spacious—for their “time travel.” The immediacy of their mission tangibly pressed against them both. Alicia slipped into the passenger seat with grace, despite her shaking body. Whether she trembled from nerves or desire, she couldn't tell. She’d never felt this way before. Glancing over at Sam, her breathing became shallow. The urgency of their shortened timeline made her want him all the more.

If I don’t do this now, I will regret it for the rest of my life, she thought. Unlike her, Sam appeared poised. Alicia wondered if she’d gotten the wrong idea about what he wanted from her. His hand rested on the gearshift.

Alicia built up the nerve to speak. “Wait,” she said breathily. He looked over at her, questioning, and she searched his face for a sign. Her eyes skimmed his body and found the answer in his lap. His hard length strained against his jeans. Alicia smiled, no longer feeling uncertain. She pulled Sam toward her wordlessly, watching his gorgeous face light up with surprise—and then rapture—just before their mouths met. Something broke inside of Alicia as she felt the warmth of his tongue press against her closed lips, and she opened, pushing against his body across the car seat as if to devour him. She ran her fingers through his hair and felt a tremor when he finally put those hands where she so desperately wanted them—on her body.

They frantically rubbed together in an attempt to explore every inch of each other’s flesh, and Alicia felt ready to burst. Sam stripped her of her shirt and bra and worshipped her breasts with his mouth, flicking his tongue over her perky nipples in a way that made her squirm with pleasure. As he slipped his hand downward, toward her belt, she shuddered, wanting this more than she had ever wanted anything, yet not quite sure she was ready. He undid her belt buckle and she inhaled sharply, no longer concerned with her pesky thoughts.

It was the middle of the afternoon, in a public parking lot where anyone could see them, but they paid no mind to the people passing by. Sam quickly adjusted the driver’s seat back and down as far as it would go, then he ripped off his shirt, exposing a finely toned torso. Alicia could not help herself; she leaned over him and latched onto his flesh, licking and biting him feverishly. Gasping, he moved his hand to his jeans and unzipped them hurriedly. Alicia shoved his hands out of the way, slipped her own hand inside his boxers, and wrapped it around his engorged cock. Surprised by the thickness of it, her eyes widened and she shoved his jeans down his thighs, taking the boxers with them. His dripping member sprang free, heavy and long, its velvety skin begging to be touched. Alicia wanted nothing more than to swallow it whole, to lick every drop of precum from the smooth head. Sam had other ideas, however.

He pushed her back into her seat and hovered over her for a harsh kiss, all tongues and teeth, he used both hands to slide her tight jeans down her hips and she kicked them off. She wriggled under his touch, all of her body aching to be closer to him. As she squirmed, different parts of her body grazed the tip of his cock—her belly, her thigh, her mound—and Sam growled, yearning to be inside her.

Alicia gave him a mischievous look and pushed him off her so she could crawl on top of him. Lowering her head, she lavished his nipples with attention, nibbling just hard enough to make Sam whimper. She moved his hands to her breasts, and he moaned and stiffened even more as he massaged them. Sparing a glance at his closed eyes, Alicia plunged downward onto his rigid shaft in one quick stroke.

Sam let out a shout and grasped her sides with strong hands, almost roughly enough to bruise her. She was very wet, but all the same, the girth of his cock took her breath away as it stretched and filled her to the core. Alicia paused, savoring the feeling, but Sam could hold himself back no longer. Bucking wildly, he pulled out before ramming himself back into her warmth repeatedly, dazing her with the force of his thrusts. Someone passing outside could easily have heard the sound of their cries, but in a haze of pleasure, neither of them thought to care. The intensity of their coupling overwhelmed both of them, driving them to the edge in a matter of minutes. Alicia rocked into Sam, feeling her pleasure build rapidly. Before long she let out a guttural cry, her muscles tensing and constricting around Sam’s cock. He groaned in response, slamming into her twice more before he withdrew and spurted his semen all over her stomach and thighs. Alicia let out a shaky breath, reveling in the sensation of his warm seed on her skin.

This reckless, mad fucking—it seemed out of place now that they were responsible adults, and yet it felt so right. Something like this could have happened if they’d known each other better in high school; a tryst in the school parking lot, perhaps. True, it was sloppy, but it was also utterly satisfying. Alicia only wished she could give more of herself to Sam. He still has five days, she thought, studying the profile of his gorgeous face. She vowed to make up for what she’d never given him. His last five days would be the most intense of his life.

Chapter 3

Day One, Friday Night

Their first stop would be Chesterton High School, where they had both spent four years achingly out of touch with each other. As they drove on the interstate, Sam behind the wheel, Alicia with her feet on the dashboard, they reminisced about friends long gone, teachers they had hated, shortcuts they’d taken from classroom to classroom. Their shared memory was so vivid that it seemed as if no time had passed at all.

It struck Alicia how fateful it was that they had run into each other at all. The high school was across the state line, nearly eleven hours from the tiny coffee shop in Brighton, according to the GPS. Sam lived around Brighton, but Alicia was just passing through for a pick-me-up on her way to visit her friends in Philadelphia. The pair had abandoned her car in the parking lot, and now here they were, driving as fast as they could in an entirely different direction.

“It’s funny how fate works, isn’t it?” Alicia said, watching the passing landscape.

“I try not to think about it,” Sam replied. “It weighs me down. It’s like the doctor handing down the diagnosis. ‘You’ve got two months to live,’ he says. What can you do with that? I think, you know, you’ve gotta live while you can.”

Alicia gritted her teeth, said nothing. It was strange, how he spoke about his impending death with such nonchalance. He seemed to have fully accepted it. She had decided to avoid mentioning his illness, but it seemed as if she were only doing so for her own benefit, deceiving herself to try and buy time that didn’t exist. Her heart ached for him. If only she had taken the time to know him when she had the chance all those years ago! Alicia gritted her teeth and made a conscious effort to forget about her friends in Philadelphia and Sam’s fateful diagnosis. None of it existed. She only wanted to focus on her time with Sam.

Sam glanced over at her pensive face and decided to switch topics. Despite what was on his mind, he had no intention of ruining these precious few days with her. They sat in silence for most of the rest of the ride, both feeling as if they were a part of something larger than themselves.

They pulled into a roadside motel late that night. Their room had only one bed, which they happily shared. It was a difficult night for Alicia, but she was trying to accept Sam’s boundaries. Though she wanted to embrace and make love again, Sam had asked her to save her energy for the following day, which would be the real start of their adventure. She could see that he was tired—his illness showed on his face and in his posture.

The couple next door to them was having decidedly loud sex—the bed frame rhythmically hit the wall, and there were muffled voices raised in pleasure. Alicia turned on her side, away from Sam, squeezing her eyes shut in a futile attempt to shut out her desire. She was afraid that if she looked at Sam she would be unable to resist him. Turning away did nothing, however—in her mind, she could still see his wavy hair falling over his forehead and his gorgeous green eyes staring into her soul.

She knew he was awake and pushed back against him. She could feel the heat before their bodies even touched. Alicia breathed in, imagining Sam’s hands on her, riding up her thighs. He shifted behind her, but moved no closer.

Alicia audibly sighed, reminding herself that this trip was more for Sam than for herself. She respected his decision, and his need to rest. Her lower body throbbed, heedless of her resolve, and her fingers found their way into her panties, rubbing lightly, teasing. She imagined they were Sam’s fingers, rougher and thicker than her own, and infinitely more exciting.

Attempting to keep herself still so she would not disturb him, she slowly slid her fingers downward to the slick warmth between her thighs...
