About the author

This image came out of a series that happened almost by accident. We had abandoned the traditional studio lighting and backgrounds in favor of an unfinished warehouse space behind the studio. Using this unmanicured space, and shooting with natural light, allowed me to capture a photograph that felt more real and emotional than an image that could be pulled out of a carefully arranged studio.
