About the author

Born in Birmingham, England, contemporary artist Mark Roberts won a scholarship to the renowned Moseley School of Art at the age of 11. His work achieved much praise and was one of a select few to be exhibited at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham.  He began his working life in the retail industry as a store designer and created a number of design concepts for blue chip retailers before becoming a self-employed interior designer.

Mark’s real passion however, lay in painting and he would spend every minute of his free time pursuing his interest. As his collection built, he began to exhibit in London galleries and his reputation grew. Specialising in figurative compositions his pop-art style had found favour from individual collectors as well as commercial enterprises and commissions started to flood in. In 2006 Mark took the leap to becoming a professional artist and formed his new business Provocative Art.

Mark became a member of the Guild of Erotic Artists and was one of the headline artists at the Erotica Show in London featuring Dita Von Teese.

Following a trip to Italy studying classical art in 2010, Mark considered the prospect of creating contemporary mosaics using handmade glass tiles. Using the studies for his paintings as the inspiration set off on this new venture. The first piece was very well received and sold instantly giving the encouragement to explore further this new medium. In March 2011 Mark launched his first collection of 8 individual works at an exhibition in Milton Keynes and his work has continued to draw new admirers. He has now become a member of the British Association of Modern Mosaic.

His strong contemporary style remains a constant and his work is instantly recognisable. These wall hangings make a dramatic statement on any wall with their reflective qualities adapting to any environment. Mark works from his home studio in Northampton and continues to exhibit throughout the UK. Commissions are welcomed.
