What's Taboo for you?
The path that a woman takes through her sexual life can be an emotional, sometimes painful, sometimes wonderful, and always interesting journey. A typical woman might begin her journey with masturbation as a child. Then comes the heated kissing and petting of the adolescent years, followed by a usually fumbled first sexual encounter. As a woman's experience as a lover grows, so does her curiosity and confidence. Often, women experience one or many "sexual awakenings" where they discover things about themselves and their sexuality is catapulted to the next level. Usually a woman becomes more experimental, and there is usually a moment when a woman will enter into the realm of "taboo."
Similar to a woman's sexual life being a living, growing thing, we are discovering that Oysters & Chocolate is taking on a life of its own as well. Though still a fledgling in many ways, the zine has experienced its own fumbled caresses, its own pain and its own pleasure. As more and more members, writers and artists become part of what the zine is, more and more boundaries are pushed, pulled and broken through. In celebration of the zine's own sexual growth and change, we have dubbed November's issue "Taboo."
In this issue, we explore a flowering of taboo topics: extramarital sex, voyeurism, and yes, incest. Every person has her own level of what she considers "taboo" - usually comprised of her own sensibilities and those of society. So wherever you draw the line in the sand, we dare you to step over it with this issue. Find a story that pushes the line for you, and discover a new realm of sexuality.
xoxo
