Bottoms in Love by Gregory Allen

Bottoms in Love is an eBook that explores the dilemma faced by lovers who do not have a yin and yang sexual relationship, but rather one in which both have either a dominant or submissive orientation. Carter and Lindsey are a young couple with kids who have worked out a plan to accommodate their mutual affinity for bottoming – they flip a coin and the winner gets to indulge his or her sexually submissive nature for a specified period of time, during which the other is required to take on a dominant sexual persona. This approach seems to work fairly well until one or the other of them has a run of bad luck and has to go too long without being sexually fulfilled.
It is precisely this circumstance that provides the scant “conflict” in this erotic story. Carter has lost the toss four times running and must struggle equally with the frustration of having to go against his nature and being jealous of his lover for doing what he sorely longs to do himself. Happily, after suffering through his prolonged doming duties, Carter’s fortune finally changes and order is restored to his universe.
Author Gregory Allen has a writing style that flows unobtrusively from well-constructed descriptive text to crisp dialogue while moving the story along and setting the mood. The characters are both well drawn and multidimensional such that readers can easily relate to them.
Bottoms in Love is self-labeled as an erotic novelette. Realistically, a better description would be an erotic short story or vignette. It doesn’t have a plot per se; it is simply a slice-of-life with an erotic theme. But it works on that level. The sexual scenarios are artfully constructed but graphic enough to be arousing. The result is reminiscent of viewing a risqué Beardsley illustration or something similar.
Since there is a BDSM theme to the story, some aficionados will find it to be somewhat tame. Indeed, the characters seem more like dilettantes than lifestylers, but that doesn’t diminish the enjoyment of the read. Soft eroticism can definitely be a pleasant diversion. Certainly this review should help you ascertain whether or not this e-book will likely appeal to your sensibilities.
