We have signed with Seal Press to publish our 2011 Oysters & Chocolate Literary Anthology!

O&C is now seeking submissions for our upcoming erotic anthology.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submissions should be between 2,000 and 6,000 words.
  • Accepted submissions will have strong characterization - we want real characters with pasts, presents and futures - they should be more than just bodies for the sex.
  • Accepted submissions will have a solid plot line, not simply a stand-alone sex scene.
  • Accepted submissions will have a strong sense of language with good dialogue.
  • Accepted submissions will demonstrate the sexual creativity that has come to be a trademark of O&C.
  • Please take extra-special care in creating a story of the best literary quality, with as few distracting grammatical errors as possible.
  • Be aware, we are much stricter and pickier about accepted anthology submissions, than we are about accepted website submissions!

Other notes:

  • Works must be previously unpublished.
  • We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please be courteous and let us know ASAP if your work gets published elsewhere.
  • Please review grant of rights below.
  • Payment: $100 plus two complimentary copies of the anthology.

Submission Method:

  • Please label your submissions in the subject line with "Anthology Submission" followed by which of our four categories you are submitting for: Vanilla, Dirty Martini, Licorice Whips, or Oysters. For example, if you are submitting a Vanilla story, your subject line will read "Anthology Submission: Vanilla."
  • If you are unfamiliar with these categories, please take time to review our website for more information. Also we highly suggest you pick up a copy of our 2009 anthology to get an idea of the quality of erotica that we are seeking.
  • Please both send your story as a word attachment, and copy and paste your story into the body of the email.
  • Preferred format is Times New Roman 12 pt, double spaced.
  • Include a brief bio as well as any publishing credits you have.
  • Please email each submission (up to four submissions) in a separate message.
  • Email your submission(s) to anthology@oystersandchocolate.com.
  • You may submit up to four entries for the anthology.
  • Deadline for submissions is March 15th 2010!

Grant of Rights:

We will purchase rights to your story for $100 and two complimentary copies of the anthology. You will be paid when the manuscript of the anthology is created, which we hope to have completed in June of 2010. In addition as per the contributor's contract with Seal Press the rights shall be as follows:

The Contributor (the writer) grants to the Editors (Jordan LaRousse and Samantha Sade) the exclusive right to print, publish, reproduce, distribute and license the Contribution as part of the Work in all languages and in all formats and to exercise and grant to third parties the rights to the Contribution as part of the Work throughout the world (“the Territory”) for the full term of copyright available to the Work in the Territory.

Accordingly, the following are the terms of publication:

The Editors and Contributor mutually agree that publication of the Contribution is contingent upon its acceptance for publication by the Editors and the publisher of the Work (the “Publisher”) and upon its meeting the Publisher’s editorial standards. The Contributor agrees to revise or allow the Editors and/ or the Publisher to revise the manuscript for the Contribution to meet those standards, and if the Contribution submitted is not acceptable to either the Editors or the Publisher, the Editors or the Publisher reserves the right not to publish it. This document in no way serves as a promise to publish.

The Contributor warrants that the Contribution is an original work; that it contains no matter which is libelous or otherwise unlawful or which invades individual privacy or infringes any proprietary rights or any statutory copyright; and the Contributor agrees to indemnify and hold the Author harmless against any claim or judgment to the contrary.

Thanks so much, we look forward to hearing from you! And as always, let us know if you have an questions or concerns.

xoxo

Hi Mili, like our first book the theme is a very broad one. We are looking to incorporate "flavorful" stories to fit each of the four delicious categories. xo J&S

I was wondering, if the piece gets accepted for publication and needs editing with the author have any say in the editing? Or will the editors just edit and publish without input from the author?

Hi Samantha and Jordan - Can I submit a piece that was previously published in O&C? I'm referring to the first story of mine you ever accepted, 'Guinea Pig'. I think it would be a good fit for the Vanilla category.

Christine - Times New Roman 12, double spaced would be nice - but is not necessary. Please copy/paste your story into email body and also include as a Word attachment.

Stephanie - we try to be fair about our editing process and include the authors when possible, especially if big changes are to be made.

Kris - sure you can submit a story that was published on O&C (we'll take it off the site if it makes it past the first cut). Make sure you give it a good edit before you send it in. We'd also love to see new stuff too!
