Beloved Readers,

Welcome to the Body Art issue of Oysters & Chocolate!

The inspiration for this issue is two-fold: First and foremost, it's a celebration of our very first art contest. Yes, dear readers, writers and artists, after a roller coaster of submissions and extensions, and a hell of a time narrowing the fantastic art down to our favorites, we are finally announcing the winner. Congratulations to Madame X for her winning photograph "My Side"!

This art contest is a reminder to cherish your own body, as well as the human body, as the work of art it is. The relationship between art and the human form is both ancient and archetypal; it links love, desire, eroticism, worship, expression and sex. Spend time with your favorite body part, whether it be your lover's hand or your own breast. Appreciate that body part as what it is - a piece of art.

Inspiration for this issue also came from a recurring theme we saw in our stories - tattoos. As explored in some of the stories this month, tattoos are often linked to events in life, lessons, lovers and sex. Many people find tattoos on others incredibly sexy, while others find the experience of getting them erotic. And some people, well, they get tattoos in order to get sex.

We strive to make every issue a piece of art in and of itself, and we hope this issue inspires you to appreciate the body as art, as well as body art. Enjoy!

Love,
Jordan & Samantha
