For those of you new to the world of vibrators, here is a little background: In the 19th century doctors treated their women patients for a common "disease" called hysteria. Hysteria was a disease that was typified by a woman displaying emotional or mental distress and was contributed to her need for sexual release.
The method of treatment was for the doctor to manually bring the female patient to climax by stimulating her genitalia. (If my doctor was dead sexy, you can bet I'd be hysterical all the time!)
The first mechanical vibrator was invented in the 1880s by a British physician as a faster way to treat his patients.
Today hysteria is no longer a treatable medical illness (I know, too bad, huh?). However, women still have a need for sexual release and there are many vibrators on the market that can get the job done.
I've always been a particularly big fan of vibrating eggs and bullets, so you could imagine my elation when I found a big brown package sitting on my doorstep the other day. I tore open the box and found inside, like a jewel nestled among shipping material, my iVibe Egg.
The iVibe Egg looks quite impressive, the egg comes with several color options (reminding me much of the iMac when it first came out...hmmm) including strawberry, grape, lime, blueberry, and tangerine. I chose the mouth-watering tangerine color.
Doc Johnson Sex Toys, the creator of these fine eggs, boasts "the perfect combination of state-of-the-art electronics and the ever popular egg." Admittedly the iVibe looks highly technical, the tangerine plastic controller is transparent and you can see the electronics that make it buzz.
The controller is nicely designed; the on/off switch is within easy reach of your thumb as is the function controller. This thing is like riding a 50 speed bike. With ten speeds times five functions you can find the perfect buzz to take you over the top.
The functions include: vibrate, pulsate, surge, escalate and roller coaster. I am an 8-speed-and-vibrate girl. I like my buzz to be smooth and consistent. The roller coasters and surges work to bring me closer to climax, but the unchanging buzz of the vibrate function is a sure win every time.
I settled down with my iVibe for a good half hour and rolled it against my clit, successfully achieving about ten orgasms. That is a pretty good batting average. This little toy certainly made climaxing easy and I felt my hysteria wash away after the first orgasm, but I just couldn't get enough!
One thing that was a bit troublesome is the on/off switch actually has to be rolled all the way down from level ten to off, which takes a couple more seconds than might be needed if someone walks into the room unexpectedly. An easy way around this little problem is to keep your door locked. Also, I did notice the egg got increasingly more difficult to position the wetter I got, the plastic just got a bit slippery.
On the plus side the vibrator didn't heat up fast and get too hot to use like I've experienced with similar toys, and after all ten orgasms my fingers were only slightly numb from use.
Here are some fun tips:
- Double your masturbating pleasure by inserting a dildo in your vagina and simultaneously titillating your clit with the iVibe Egg. I guarantee you that this is way more than the doctor ordered!
- For a sensational experience with your partner, try inserting the iVibe Egg into your anus and then riding your partner to climax. He'll feel you buzzing all the way to a simultaneous orgasm.
- Have your partner control the iVibe while s/he simultaneously pleases you orally. Mmm mmm good.
